If you get tired you can take two swings to drive a nail. Lastly, it takes some strength to drive a nail to the correct depth. Great at nailing slightly bowed boards into place as previously stated.
The grip could have been better, maybe they improved it on the newer model or maybe you can buy one with better grip (or use tape like previous commenter stated). IfOverall Recommendation:If you are dead set on buying a manual tool, this one is fine, just add tape or something to the mallet for a better grip in case of a mis-hit. This can damage flooring that has already been nailed in.
Pros:It works fine. I've sent the mallet flying behind me a few times now because of this. If you have a lot of flooring, strongly consider a pneumatic nailer or be prepared to spend a while nailing down flooring and waking up sore in the morning (I'm sore as I write this).The things are on sale at home depot for $155 now but probably because they are clearing out for the newer model.
I like how the driver doesn't come back if you don't drive the nail all the way in. I also like the fact that the mallet (at least in my case) can be used to tap boards into place, no need for a dead-blow hammer and tapping block.Cons:The mallet can slip out of your hand if you don't get a clean hit.
I had to wrap the handle with a thick layer of tape to be able to hold onto it. I bought this nailer to install my flooring and it has worked great, it does especially well to pull any warp out of the boards to give a tight fitting joint. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is only because of the included mallet--the handle is too thin and does not have any grip to it.
Delivery was prompt and no complaints here so far and can't wait to use it. Nails were easy to buy here in Florida but have to wait a few weeks to use it up in NC. I'll write back with a 5 star rating after I get a chance to use it. Purchased the refurbished nailer and everything looked new right out of the box. Have several other Bostitch nailers which have worked fine over the past decade.
In the first 10 minutes the MFN200 broke. I bought this nailer based on personal experience with Bostich and they did repair the nailer at no cost but now I am stuck with a nailer that has 10 minutes of use in it. I purchaed this nailer to install 700 square feet of new flooring. I had to go to the box store and rent a nailer afterall. And I still had to pay for the rental fees. Thinking this was a better idea than renting a nailer. When the day came for the installation I had to hire an hourly worker to install the floor because of my schedule.
So I would have to give it the lowest rating. The thin metal bar that drives the nail down was broken upon arrival.
